How to choose a solar inverter
The inverter should be chosen as part of the system, not on its own. The installation's phase, the panel power, the storage and the circuits you want to power must all be compatible with each other.
1
Single-phase or three-phase
The choice starts from the building's grid connection and electrical installation. A three-phase system is not justified by higher power alone, and a single-phase system must be sized within the limits of the installation.
2
Power and MPPT range
Rated power is only the starting point. Compare the start-up voltage, the MPPT range, the accepted current and the number of inputs against the planned panel strings.
3
Hybrid and battery-ready
If you want storage now or later, check from the outset which batteries and BMS the manufacturer supports. Compatibility is not universal across brands and generations.
Questions before you buy
Should I choose a single-phase or a three-phase inverter?
The answer depends on the building's grid connection, the approved power and how the loads are configured. The installation must be checked before you order.
Do I need a hybrid inverter?
A hybrid inverter is a good fit when you want to integrate storage and its functions match the project. For a system without a battery, there may be a simpler option.
Can I add the battery later?
Only if the inverter supports storage and the chosen battery is compatible. Check the protocol, the voltage and the manufacturer's list before you buy.
